AHIA National Conference 2008
7 October 2008
Click here to download the Program.
The 2008 Annual Conference of the Australian Health Insurance Association will focus on “Making the Case for Quality”.
When the issue of “Quality” is discussed by the wide variety of players in the Health Care arena, competing interests frequently come to the fore. Are the interests of Consumers, Providers and Funders mutually exclusive? Can they be better aligned?
Whatever the individual interests of those within the Health Care system, improved clinical outcomes for consumers should always be the focus. The Conference will deliver thought provoking ways in which this apparent and/or potential misalignment might be addressed.
The AHIA Conference will explore ways by which the consumer can be reassured that their care is being undertaken to deliver the best possible outcome, in line with the most up-to-date and with the most appropriate methods of treatment.
It will promote dialogue with International experts from the USA and France, who will discuss their efforts to provide safer and better care, and to move care to an Ambulatory setting. Lessons can be learned which will resonate with today’s Australian wish to expand Broader Health Care.
Key issues to be addressed include the future health care needs and the changing demands of the Australian Community, and an update of the progress being made by the Government’s various newly formed Reform Task Forces.
Ways to promote Transparency of Information for consumers, and to deliver “Better Health outcomes” funding methods will feature on the Conference Agenda, as will a “break out” session dealing with fraud and methods which funds can and have utilised to combat it.
The Conference builds on the successes of recent years, and is an invaluable forum for Senior Management, Board Members, Contract managers, Media Personnel, etc., to be updated on the issues which will be likely to take their attention in the coming twelve months.
