About Health Partners
Health Partners has been looking after the health care needs of South Australians since 1937. Starting out as the South Australian Public Service Association Hospital Benefit Fund (HBF) we provided hospital cover to members of the South Australian Public Service Association and their families.
In the 1980s we became the first South Australian health fund to provide a full range of general dental services through a member-dedicated dental centre in Hutt Street. Demand for our services continued to grow and by the mid 90s we created a Pharmacy Scheme, operated two dental centres and two optical centres, and launched a Physiotherapy Scheme, giving members higher benefits at selected practices in metropolitan Adelaide.
In 1995, with a membership of 18,000 we changed our name from HBF to what we are known as today, Health Partners. This name reflects the partnership with members and our specially selected health professionals.
As a not-for-profit, mutual organisation we are committed to providing quality, value-for-money health insurance. Our values are entrenched in providing the best possible service and care for our members. Whether that's through Health Partners Dental, SA's largest private Dental practice, Health Partners Optical, which offers the best in eye care, alongside exceptional benefits and discounts, or access to a growing network of quality health care professionals, including 50 partner pharmacies and 45 affiliated physiotherapists.
Today, we proudly insure over 88,000 individuals, enabling choice of providers and access to healthcare when it is required. We are the largest South Australian-based open health fund.
